President's Message
February 2010
Having been raised in one of the coldest areas of BC, it's natural that it's ingrained in me that January is the longest, coldest and most uncomfortable month of winter. So, I'm always grateful and excited when it speeds by, as it has done this year, and we are feeling the first inklings of spring and the opportunities it brings with it.
Our Peer Marketing Modules, which are popular, valuable educational sessions designed to enhance your business marketing, are open to both members and non-members. The next module, led by Janis LaCouvee, will cover blogs, websites and simple solutions for maximizing your web presence. Be sure to book your seat early to avoid disappointment.
WBN member, Jessica Moulson of Vibes Fitness Studio, will be hosting a Learning Room presentation on Tuesday, February 23rd. Her one hour information session will also include a demonstration of the work out machines. Register soon as space is limited. See the "Learning Room" page for details.
We have an established partnership with Junior Achievement of BC and will again provide a bursary this year to an eligible young woman wishing to pursue entrepreneurship as a career option. The criteria for applications can be found on our "Student Bursary" page and applications will be received until May 12, 2010. Sandy Firth and I are very excited about being involved as coaches with JABC again this year and the possibilities of coaching an all girls after school program.
In preparation for our AGM we are now calling for member nominations for next year's board. If you are interested in supporting WBN by volunteering your time as a board member, please contact me at info@viwbn.org. The deadline for expression of interest and nominations is Friday, February 19, 2010.
Admission to our networking luncheons is non-perishable food items for our Mustard Seed collection. Please join us and remember your donation. Your support for this program is very much appreciated.
With kind regards,
Loren Greig-Green
President 2009-2010
