President's Message
May 2008
This page is dedicated to our upcoming Silent Auction and Mixer, May 20th, 2008 at Sea Cider Vintage Cidery. I am so proud and excited about this event.
“Connecting the World to Victoria” was chosen to be the theme of our annual fundraiser this year. We came up with a few ideas but felt most passionate about the subject of the present labour shortage, as it is presenting more and more challenges within our community.
We would like to build awareness as well as offer some support to the community. A partnership with the Inter-Cultural Association (ICA) gave us that opportunity. One of the ways to fix the labour shortage is to import labour from elsewhere and, most importantly, to retain those resources.
Mentorship programs such as ICA’s Host Mentoring Services help to ease the transition so that qualified immigrants can be successful in their profession here and be retained in our workforce. WBN also has a strong belief in mentoring and being involved in the community so this project will fulfill many aspects of our purpose.
I hope you will join us in “Connecting the World to Victoria”. There are many ways to show your support. You can be an event sponsor, make a donation for the silent auction, purchase tickets to the event and volunteer. There are limited tickets available so don’t wait for the last minute. We expect that all the tickets will be sold by May 16th 2008. Click here to purchase on-line ticket
I would also like to thank all of our kind sponsors.
