President's Message
Summer 2010
The Vancouver Island Women's Business Network had steadfastly served women in business for over 21 years and successfully provided them with a variety of resources and opportunities to network and grow their businesses.
It started in the early 1990s with a small group of women and very quickly grew to become a large and viable association with over 100 members. WBN became a leading business women's networking group with a unique, additional focus on giving annually to a charity within the community.
That vision never waivered, and, because of the dedicated and committed efforts of the 2009-2010 Board, the Society was in a very strong financial position at its end. We, therefore, were able to give generously to not just one, but to four selected charities within our community. A generous donation was also made to the Junior Achievement of BC School Program along with a bursary to a female student who chose entrepreneurship as a valuable career option. It is very satisfying to end this, the last year of WBN, on these very, very high notes.
Since The Vancouver Island Women's Business Network is in the process of dissolution, when all assets have been fairly distributed and business has ceased within the Society, a Voluntary Request for Dissolution will be forwarded to the Registrar of Societies to strike the Society from the register. The Society will be dissolved on the date set by the Registrar.
I express my deepest gratitude to the outgoing Board of Directors for their outstanding contribution and support over this past year. Without hesitation, they stepped up to fulfill WBN's obligations to its members and to the community. Their commitment and dedication, proven by the many, many hours of work they gave to WBN, has been remarkable and it has been my pleasure to work along side of them. My sincere and heart-felt thank you to every one of them.
It has also been a pleasure for me to have served on the Board for three terms, first as Membership Director then President, and have the opportunity to meet and network with many talented businesswomen who joined our events. Thank you all for sharing your wealth of knowledge and inspiration over the years.
With kind regards,
Loren Greig-Green
President 2009-2010
