Community Involvement

With our focus on giving back to the community at large, WBN supported the following community organizations this past year:

Junior Achievement of British Columbia

WBN provided a $500.00 bursary to a female student choosing entrepreneurship as a career option and also supported the JA School Program with a $1000.00 donation.

The Mustard Seed

Non-perishable food items were taken to Mustard Seed on a monthly basis and in September school items were collected.  For more information about Mustard Seed, please visit www.MustardSeed.ca.

Wear 2 Start Foundation

Wear 2 Start does a makeover and dresses over 250 women a year in preparation for job interviews.  Their objective is to instill confidence -  they want the women to look good and feel great.

When choosing clothing you no longer need, ask yourself, “Would I wear this to a job interview?”  Wear 2 Start will only accept clothing that is not tired or dated. Those going for an interview in retail or a restaurant are expected to wear black and white.  Suits and clothing with a more tailored look are acceptable for office interviews.

Handbags, shoes, scarves, earrings and necklaces that will enhance an outfit are also accepted.  Please take your clothing donations on hangers.

Please call 250-472-9327 to arrange for a mutually convenient date and time to drop off donations.  They are located at 733 Johnson Street.  Remember to let them know that you are from WBN.   For more information about Wear 2 Start, visit www.wear2start.com.

Sandy Merriman House

The only shelter for just women.  The Sandy Merriman House was delighted to receive the gift-filled Christmas stockings that we contributed.  Thank you so much for your generous hearts and know we are making a positive impact in the lives of others.
