Vancouver Island Womans Business Network - Celebrating 20 Years
Vancouver Island Womens Business Network

Who We Are

The Vancouver Island Women's Business Network Association was formed after the 1989 Business Success for Women's Conference organized by the Federal Business Bank. Thirty-five women met informally for lunch and WBN memberships quickly grew to over 140 members.  It was incorporated as a non-profit association in 1990.

Our mandate is to provide a strong networking, educational and social forum. We encourage, motivate and support women in business.

Current members include entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals in a variety of fields. Our diverse network includes people in retail, service, manufacturing, the arts, health, government and not-for-profit.

Since 1989 the Vancouver Island Women’s Business Network (WBN) has supported business and professional women by providing mentoring, networking and business opportunities, and has raised thousands of dollars for local women’s charities such as Wear 2 Start Foundation, Victoria Women’s Transition House and Iy, Ilen Hautw, the Native Transition House and WIN.

Join women in business on the third Wednesday of each month for our Monthly Mixer, an evening of business networking, education and support.

Our Purpose

  • To provide a forum for business women, entrepreneurs and professional women to come together to share ideas, experiences and CELEBRATE the achievement of one another
  • To foster educational development within the membership
  • To contribute to the larger community and  “be an instrument of change”

What We Do

  • Provide opportunity for members to develop skills and strengthen network relations through volunteering and committee participation
  • Host monthly meetings on general topics of business and personal development
  • Provide forums for networking, exchanging of ideas and experiences, support, encouragement and promotion of each other's businesses
  • CELEBRATE each other's success

"Newly arrived in Victoria and having few connections here, I was delighted to meet this group of sincere, professional women who immediately included me as one of their own. Their caring attitude and their mutual support for each other was heartwarming and I look forward to many years of professional association with them."
