CONNECTING WOMEN - MIXERS AND MEETINGS

Q: Why do we need to pre-register with a credit card prior to the mixer meeting deadline?

A: According to our contract with the hotel, we must provide the number of mixer participants on the Friday prior to our mixer and pre-pay for the number reserved.   For buffet style meals, the amount of food prepared is based on the number of pre-registered members or guests. If people attend without pre-booking we cannot guarantee sufficient food for all.

Q: What kind of speakers will I hear at a WBN meeting?

A: We take our choice of speakers very seriously at the WBN. We are aware that your evenings are precious and that you want to hear the best possible speakers, who will entertain you as well as educate you on matters relevant to business women and entrepreneurs.  We welcome your feedback and will often ask for formal feedback from you to ensure that we engage the most appropriate speakers. Topics covered this year range from building and maintaining networks, fraud protection, public speaking and how to dress appropriately in today’s marketplace.

We welcome you to attend a meeting and experience a Mixer first hand.

Q: How can I get the most out of a networking meeting?

  • Attend networking events and meetings with the attitude that you are there to create relationships. Taking an interest in others and taking the time to get to know them over a period of time (multiple meetings) is the best way to build trust, which in turn, is an excellent way to build word-of-mouth marketing for your business. People tend to refer friends and clients to people they trust. The WBN has a long history of attracting members who are committed to building strong relationships in our network of fun, caring and sharing women.

  • Attend networking meetings with a goal in mind. ...what specific information do you wish people to know about you and your business? How will you tell them? What do you currently need for your business ...more clients...a bookkeeper...a venue for a workshop? Set the goal to ask people for what you need when you network. Who would you like to get to know better? Set a goal to meet 2 people to follow up with. What information could you share that will be of good value to your potential clients? Set a goal to meet 5 people you could follow-up with by sending them this useful information..... What other goals could you set?

  • For an article on making networking come alive for you please see the March 2005 issue of the Network News.
