As the Area Manager for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon, Barbara Haley is proud to be working with a community-based organization whose compelling vision is one of "Generations Free from Heart Disease and Stroke". Barbara comes to the Foundation with a background in both education and business--most recently running her own education-consulting business.

 

While many people know that heart disease and stroke are the leading cause of death for men in Canada, only 1 in 8 women realize that this is also a woman's biggest health problem. Through The Heart Truth Campaign, the Foundation is working to "change the face of heart disease" by raising awareness among women of the risks associated with cardiovascular disease.

 

The Victoria Area Office of the Foundation is run with only 2 full time and 3 part-time staff, and depends on the amazing contributions made by over 1000 volunteers in the fight against the leading cause of death for Canadians.
